Public Speaking Charisma
Saturday, October 29, 2005
Holiday Inn, McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, 9am to 5 pm

Lean how to be charismatic when you address a staff meeting, give a presentation to a client or deliver a keynote speech.

Why are some public speakers dull and others dynamic? The secret is speech writing designed for the spoken word instead of the written word, using body language as an asset instead of a distraction, putting variety into your voice so it is interesting instead of monotonous, and targeting your audiences needs instead of lecturing to them. You don’t have to change your personality to gain charisma! It’s within your grasp. You can gain skills that capitalize on your natural speaking style and turn your tedious talk into a powerful presentation.

This enlightening workshop covers the following topics:

  • How to captivate the audience from the moment you start
  • How to conquer fear of public speaking
  • How to use powerful body language
  • How to stop sounding monotonous and start sounding dynamic
  • How to use humor to bond with the audience
  • How to use stories to bring your main points to life
  • How to organize outstanding outlines
  • How to end with impact

Class size limited to 15. Cost $240. To register for this workshop call 412-478-6785 or email sally@actingforbusiness.com

Acting Techniques
for Public Speakers

Use acting techniques to improve voice tone and inflection, posture, gestures and eye contact.

Saturday, Saturday, May 3, 2008
Holiday Inn, McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, 9am to 5 pm

Class size limited to 15Research shows that the impact of your speech will be determined by the following factors:

  • 55% by your posture, gestures and eye contact
  • 38% by your voice tone and inflection
  • Only 7% by the content of your speech.

How you perform your speech will be far more important than how well it is written. But when people stand up to speak, a strange thing happens: Their voices become monotonous and their movements become wooden. Even experienced speakers lose their natural gestures and vocal tone. Traditional methods of teaching public speaking do not correct this problem.
This workshop offers an entirely new approach to public speaking which you will not find anywhere else. It is based on Method Acting techniques that have been adapted specifically for public speakers. It addresses the root cause of why we loose our ability to move and talk naturally in front of a group. For the first time you can learn techniques that will immediately give you a better vocal range. You will learn how to memorize your speech in an entirely new way so that your gestures and movements are natural. You will learn to use eye contact so that everyone in the audience feels as if you are speaking directly to them. For the first time you can learn performance techniques that work.

Class size limited to 15. Cost $295. To attend this workshop call 412-478-6785 or email sally@actingforbusiness.com

Promote Your Business
with Public Speaking

Friday, November 9, 2007
Holiday Inn, McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Class size limited to 12

Public speaking is one of the most effective and inexpensive methods of advertising. When you give a speech, you are immediately perceived as an expert on your subject, and you reach a large number of people in short amount of time. Yet few business people realize the potential of public speaking. There are hundreds of opportunities to promote your services and products by speaking at business associations, civic groups and company staff meetings. This workshop will help you target the opportunities and prepare a speech that gets you in the door, and gets results.

This is not a general public speaking workshop. We will focus on your specific business and the speaking opportunities that will reach your clients. Each participant will prepare a speech that is designed for their needs and their market. At the end of the workshop you will have an effective speech that you can use immediately to gain clients.

Are you spending thousands on direct mailings and cold calls and forgetting that public speaking can reach lots of potential clients without costing you a penny? When was the last time you spoke about your business to a civic group or gave a speech at a networking dinner? Shouldn’t public speaking be part of your sales and marketing plan? Attend this workshop—Learn how to speak and gain clients.

How to Write a Public Speech
in 15 Minutes

Learn how to prepare a presentation when you don’t have time

Friday, July 29, 2005
Holiday Inn, McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, 9am to 4 pm.

It is your company’s Annual Convention and the after-dinner speaker has missed his plane–you will have to speak in his place! Your boss suddenly tells you that you must give a presentation at the staff meeting today! When these things happen, do you wish you could die? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could see these situations as an opportunity instead of a nightmare? What if, instead of muddling through it, you delivered a well organized speech with confidence!
Take charge of your destiny! If you want to succeed in business, you MUST be prepared to speak effectively with only a few minutes notice. Learn techniques that bring success when you don’t have time to spare.
You will not find these methods in any book. Books about public speaking are written with the idea that you have several hours to think about the exact words you will use and to practice your delivery. In the real world that seldom happens. Professional speakers have plenty of time to prepare their speeches—business people do not. You have to answer the telephone, write letters and get the rest of your day’s work done while trying to squeeze in time to prepare your presentation. Of course you will be nervous if you are writing a speech using a method that requires many hours when you don’t even have one hour to spare! You need a method that works in the real world. This workshop will teach you that method. In this workshop you will learn exactly what to do so that you can communicate effectively with only fifteen minutes of preparation.
Cost $295. To attend this workshop call 412-478-6785 or email sally@actingforbusiness.com
